Mapendo’s latest case study is about our successful partnership with Lightricks, the leading app development company for AI-driven video & photo editing apps. We’re excited to share this success story, made possible by the constant and precious efforts that our team and Lightricks have put in since the beginning of the collaboration. 

The challenge 

Scale paid subscribers worldwide for both Facetune and Videoleap

The main goal for Lightricks was to acquire paid subscribers and not just increase installs since their monetization strategy is subscription-based. After a 7-day free trial, users can choose to pay for a yearly subscription and that was the main in-app event to optimize the campaigns for. The challenge was to find these high-value users and to target new incremental audiences, since all of their apps already have a large user base. 

The solution

Launch CPA-optimized campaigns and extend user acquisition to 12+ GEOs, leveraging Mapendo’s global inventory

Mapendo launched CPA campaigns to promote Facetune, targeting iOS users in the US and aiming at converting them into new paying subscribers. During the initial phase, multiple creatives were tested, mainly videos and banners. The team at Lightricks was extremely helpful in providing Mapendo with constantly updated assets and with valuable feedback.  

Accurate contextual targeting and granular optimization by Mapendo’s AI-driven platform quickly increased both the install-to-trial and the trial-to-subscription rates. Thus, together with Lightricks, we started to scale the volumes of new users in the US, and to expand Facetune UA campaigns to multiple GEOs. We leveraged our global inventory and launched CPA campaigns in all tier-1 countries such as United Kingdom, Canada, Germany and France, and even beyond, including LATAM and Australia.   

Encouraged by the positive results of the Facetune CPA campaigns, Lightricks and Mapendo agreed to launch similar campaigns to promote 2 additional apps, Videoleap and Photoleap. Additionally, CTV campaigns were launched too, starting with Videoleap in the United States. 

The Results

Within a few months, the partnership between Mapendo and Lightricks has expanded significantly. Facetune UA campaigns have generated new paying subscribers in more than 12 countries, including Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Australia. 

While the United States remains the best-performing market, many other countries are growing their volumes and both Mapendo and Lightricks keep testing new solutions and strategies to grow their partnership. 

Finally, UA campaigns for Videoleap yielded remarkable results as well, leading Lightricks to almost double their Ad Spend on such campaigns and to further expand their user acquisition efforts with Mapendo on additional mobile apps.
